St. Louis Regional Clean Cities is a 501 c3 that supports the initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to expand the use of vehicles that operate with fuels other than petroleum-based gasoline and diesel. Using clean, domestic, American made fuels will improve our air quality, reduce our dependence on imported oil and improve our economy. Our goal is to provide information so that the consumers and fleets can find the tools they need to find the fuel that works best for their needs.
Transportation is the life-blood of our economy and essential to our daily lives. Unfortunately, our dependence on petroleum for motor vehicles is dangerous for our health, economy and national security. Increased public transit services and other transportation options are needed. However, in the St. Louis Region most businesses, governments, and people will continue to rely heavily on individual motor vehicles. What can we do? Vehicles that run on cleaner, American, alternative fuels are part of the solution.
Energy security is a big part of national security. Currently, the US imports over 50% of its petroleum and this may increase to 70% by 2020. An increasing share of these imports come from the volatile Persian Gulf region where we spend billions and often risk lives to defend supplies.
In 2000 our foreign petroleum demand cost $119 billion. Every gallon displaced by a domestic alternative fuel keeps energy dollars circulating in our economy, creating jobs and prosperity. Finally, cleaner fuel vehicles for a fleet or individual are often a bargain. Tax incentives and grant funds can help offset costs of vehicles and refueling stations. Many clean fuels are less expensive than conventional fuels and may reduce maintenance costs.
St. Louis Regional Clean Cities is a non-profit that survives on your donations. Please help by making a tax deductable donation that will help reduce our dependency on foreign oil.

Thank You for your support.
